According to the base idea of twin-cities (more general: twin-settlements) a politically and/or geographically remote small or big city make partnership with eaxh other in order to strengthen the cultural relationships between people.
Cities began to make partnerships is Eurpoe after the World War II., in order to facilitate understanding each other and the creation of crass-border projects.
That was the reason that Aldebrő also started to look for twin-settlements. The first successful attempts started at the beginning of the ’90s, after the change of regime. The first twinning agrement was made in 1992 with Nagykend.
For the next agreement, wich was concluded with Mezőgecse, the village had to wait almost 16 years. For the agreement with the 3rd settlement, Debrőruszka we didn’t have to wait much, just 1 year. The document was signed is 2009 by the mayors of the two settlement and by the president of the ,,Német Nemzetiségi Önkormányzat”.
Special pleasure is that the three villages are come from the closest neighbouring countries, which of course wasn’t accidental.
